Deb Bettencourt Photography was established in 2008 as the culmination of years of dreaming, studying and planning while employed in a corporate environment. As a portrait artist, photography is an all-encompassing part of my life in a way that a “job” never could.
We specialize in Newborn, Children and Family Portraiture, and Wedding Photography. Our family-friendly residential studio is located in North Attleboro, MA, and gives clients the choice of Studio or On-Location sessions. Much of the credit (OK, all of the credit) for our lovely, comfortable studio space belongs to my husband Izzy, who is also our self-titled Props Department Manager.
My passion for capturing people in the whirlwinds of marriage and raising children inspired me to earn my photography certificate from New York Institute of Photography. The arrival of children into your family brings an awareness of the passing of time that I don’t think people quite grasp until it happens to them. Personally, the birth of our twin daughters revealed the importance and responsibility of documenting a family’s evolution, from two people getting married to the birth of each child and all the milestones that follow. I graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Bryant University with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, so my strong business background gave me the knowledge I needed to establish Deb Bettencourt Photography. I also became a member of the Board of Directors for Professional Photographers Association of RI (PPARI) so that I could keep up on the latest photography techniques and equipment in order to produce high-quality, beautiful images for you and your family.
When I am not photographing a newlywed couple’s first official kiss, or a baby’s first few steps, I spend time with my husband and daughters, or work on craft projects. Creating new props for my studio is addictive–tutus and wings for fairy portraits, gowns for maternity portraits, and more! I also enjoy visiting beaches in South County, browsing shops in Newport, and antiquing at Brimfield. Reading fuels many of my ideas, and I often have several books and magazines going at the same time. I’m not ashamed to admit that I usually check the last few pages of a new book before committing to it! Using my photography to contribute to organizations like the March of Dimes, Women & Infants Hospital, local churches and schools makes me grateful for all that I’ve been blessed with.
